Mission 03: POLLUX

Jamestown

Jamestown, also known as Ododiodioo, is rich in culture and boxing but faces challenges with poverty and plastic waste. Our initiative aims to turn the tide on these issues by empowering locals to recycle and innovate, opening doors to new jobs and cleaner living.

We plan to teach the community how to recycle plastic and even how to make their own recycling machines, proving that environmental efforts and economic development can coexist.

Imagine a Jamestown bustling with recycled products, engaged in widespread recycling activities, all contributing to a cleaner and more vibrant neighborhood.

Progress

Current action: Fundraising

We are currently launching a fundraising campaign to drill a borehole in Jamestown, providing the community with direct access to running groundwater. This initiative will free the local residents from relying on water deliveries and is our highest priority. Simultaneously, we are raising funds to equip schools with essential supplies.

Up next: Kickstarting plastic recycling

After addressing our high-priority aid initiatives, our next step is to launch a fundraising campaign to establish a small-scale plastic recycling center in Jamestown. This center will tackle the pressing plastic waste problem in the area, promoting environmental sustainability and creating local job opportunities. By focusing on recycling, we aim to transform waste into resources.

February 15, 2024: Site visit

During our recent site visit, we carefully assessed and documented the current status of the project.

Nii, our Site Coordinator in Jamestown, highlighted the immediate needs of the site, drawing attention to the essential resources and improvements required.
